2024

Himed launches the Bioceramics Center of Excellence, providing analytical services and R&D support for optimizing calcium phosphate materials, as well as offering rapid prototyping with customizable bioinks via Lithoz LCM 3D printing technology.

Publication of Himed’s white paper, Techniques to Enhance the Bioactivity of Polyetheretherketone (PEEK), which explores a variety of methods for overcoming the hydrophobic nature of the polymer using novel applications of CaP-based biomaterials.

2023

MCD Apatitic Abrasive is recognized as one of the most innovative medtech products of the year when awarded the 2023 Judges’ Choice Award by BIOMEDevice.

New research partnership initiated with Mercury Bio to explore the development of novel osteogenic materials that employ chimeric extracellular vesicles.

Vienna-based Lithoz teams up with Himed to develop new bioink materials for Lithoz’s LCM 3D printers that utilize unique calcium-phosphate compounds for improved medical an dental implant osseointegration.

Himed presents an in-depth analysis at Rapid TCT about the efficacy of post-processing 3D-printed Ti64 implants with biocompatible MCD Apatitic Abrasive to remove the loosely-adherent metal beads and surface irregularities that result from an additive manufacturing process.

2022

An enlarged robotic spray cell for post-processing orthopedic implants with Himed’s proprietary MCD apatitic abrasive is completed to meet increased demand.

All product specification sheets for biomaterials, and hydroxyapatite discs, are redesigned, expanded, and made available for download.
